Updates and new features are regularly developed and released on Open Supply Hub, often based on feedback from users like you. Read what was included in the most recently released set of changes.
Here’s what you can expect from the most recent updates to Open Supply Hub:
Spotlight Improvements: Partner Search & Data Management
Filter Production Locations by Spotlight Partner
Added a new two-level filter to the homepage and facilities search page, allowing users to find production locations by Spotlight Partner group (such as Emissions & Energy Use, Assessments & Audits, Living Wage and Grievance Mechanisms) and individual data partners within each group. Filter selections persist in the URL and stay consistent with both map and list view results.
Streamlined Data Ingestion for Spotlight Partners
We've developed a more automated data ingestion process for Spotlight partners contributing data to OS Hub. Partners can now submit their data via Google Sheet, and OS Hub's internal automated processing system handles validation and ingestion. This streamlined workflow makes it faster and easier to onboard new Spotlight partner data and process subsequent data updates.
Upcoming Maintenance: Automation Sprint
A new banner has been added to the "Add Data" and "Claim a Production Location" pages notifying contributors about the upcoming automation sprint. This allows us to keep contributors informed about upcoming changes to our data processing timelines.
Bug Fixes & User Experience Improvements
This quarter we invested in resolving several bugs that impact contributor experience and platform functionality.
Account Registration & Activation
- Updated registration and activation email copy to prevent emails from being blocked by spam filters, with action-oriented language and a styled activation button
- Added a post-registration banner guiding users to check their spam folder, allowlist @opensupplyhub.org, or contact support if the confirmation email is not received within 24 hours
- Improved messaging for users who click an activation link after their account is already active—they now see a clear "Your account is already active" message with a login link, instead of a generic error
Data Uploads & Formatting
- Fixed percent-formatted columns (e.g., 75%) being stored as raw decimals (0.75) in XLSX uploads when the column header row is blank
- Corrected facility list row numbering, which previously displayed "1" as a row header; data rows now number sequentially from 1
Claims & Embedded Maps
- Resolved a JavaScript error that blocked facility claims when browser auto-translation (such as Google Translate) was active
- Fixed embedded map location profiles showing only Name and Sector after clicking a facility; profile context is now correctly preserved in detail URLs
- Ensured unchecked fields (such as Facility Type and Processing Type) no longer appear in embedded maps after being deselected in embed settings
List Management
- Fixed a bug where replaced lists were not automatically deactivated. Previously, when uploading a new list to replace an existing one, the old list would remain active, requiring contributors to email OS Hub for manual deactivation. The "Replace List" functionality now works correctly, allowing contributors to self-service replace lists when uploading new data without needing manual intervention.
New features and updates like these are often built based on feedback from OS Hub users. If you have any questions about these updates or would like to make a suggestion for future improvements, please contact us.
