Updates and new features are regularly developed and released on Open Supply Hub, often based on feedback from users like you. Read what was included in the most recently released set of changes.
Here’s what you can expect from the most recent updates to Open Supply Hub:
Production Location Data Transparency
- Contribution Timeline Visibility: The Supply Chain Network drawer on production location pages now displays upload dates under each contributed list and shows a "Last contributed" date for API-only and anonymized contributors. This allows users to quickly assess how current the information is.
- Closed Location Status Clarified: The /v1/production-locations/ API endpoint now includes an is_closed field, allowing API users to directly determine whether a location is closed without needing to infer it from opening and closing dates.
- Claimed Data Edit Dates: The "Operational Details Submitted by Management" section on claimed production locations now displays the date of the latest claim edit rather than the original claim date, providing more accurate information about when facilities last updated their data.
Contributor Protection in Paid Products
- New Anonymization Controls: OS Hub admins can now anonymize a contributor's identity in paid products (API and data downloads) while keeping their contributions visible on public facility profiles. This protection is particularly important for contributors working in sensitive sectors or regions where their involvement with supply chain transparency initiatives needs to remain confidential.
- Search Behavior with Anonymized Data: When search results contain only anonymized facilities, data downloads are disabled with an explanatory tooltip to protect contributor privacy.
Search Performance Improvements
- Caching for Repeat Searches: Facilities list and detail responses, map extents, and filter options (countries, sectors, parent companies, product types) are now cached with per-user visibility safeguards. This makes repeat searches significantly faster for all users. Additionally, platform deployments no longer require full database reindexing.
- Improved API Response Handling: Fixed the product types endpoint to properly cache responses by compressing payloads before caching, eliminating previous size limit issues.
Website & Documentation Updates
- Donation Support Enhanced: The "Donate" button in the site footer now points to our updated donations page.
- API Documentation Improved: Sample responses for facility endpoints in the legacy API documentation now parse as valid JSON and accurately reflect current response shapes. An automated process ensures samples remain synchronized with actual API responses going forward.
