Here’s what you can expect from the most recent updates to Open Supply Hub:

Homepage & Map Experience

New Homepage Launch

Visiting opensupplyhub.org now opens a redesigned homepage that introduces users to Open Supply Hub's capabilities and solutions. The homepage provides information about what users can do on the platform, available solutions, ways to get in touch, and examples of organizations already using OS Hub. 

The interactive map has moved to opensupplyhub.org/map and users who want to go directly to the map can click the "Fast Track" box to access it immediately. All existing map links and deep links with search parameters continue to work without interruption.

Expanded Processing Type Search

Processing Type search now includes fuzzy search functionality and goes beyond OS Hub's apparel taxonomy. Users can search across the full range of Processing Types submitted on the platform, making it easier to find relevant production locations across all sectors. 

The search menu clearly distinguishes between values in the OS Hub taxonomy and those contributed by users, so users can choose what's most relevant for their needs. Fuzzy search functionality allows users to find matches even when searching for non-exact terms. 

Spotlight Enhancements: Geographic Data Matching

We've implemented a scalable geographic matching system for Spotlight partner data. Previously, matching Spotlight data to facilities required facility-level data or ad-hoc geographic work. Now we can efficiently map geographic-level datasets to facilities, enabling broader coverage and faster onboarding of new geographic-based Spotlight data.

This scalable approach will enable us to onboard additional geographic-based datasets to Spotlight in future releases.

Enhanced Validation & Consistency for Contributor Submissions

Clearer Error Messages

When submitting a claim or single production location, you'll now get clear, specific error messages that tell you exactly what's wrong and how to fix it. Previously, errors were vague; now they highlight the problematic fields and provide format guidance for things like Product Types, Processing Types, and website URLs.

Smart Pre-Submission Checks

Before you submit a single production location, the form now checks for common mistakes like implausible names or addresses, mismatches between the address and country you've entered, or multiple locations in one row. If something looks off, you'll see a warning but can still proceed if you believe the submission is correct.

Consistent Field Rules

All text input fields now follow the same rules. Product Type, Location Type, and Processing Type values are limited to 200 characters, matching the limits for Name, Address, and Parent Company. This consistency makes it easier to understand what's expected across all forms.

Profile Transparency & Attribution Controls

Consistent Claimed Data Labeling

Data submitted by claimants through any channel—claims form, single location contributions, or list uploads—is now consistently labeled as "Claimed" for name, address, sector, and other fields. This gives users clear visibility into verified information from facility representatives across all data types.

Anonymous Attribution for Single Production Location Contributions

To maintain data quality and trust, approved single location contributions can now be displayed anonymously (shown as "A Service Provider" or similar) instead of showing the specific contributor name. The contributed data remains visible and useful on facility profiles. Approved facility claimants continue to be attributed to their own data updates.

API Enhancements

Contributor Data on Production Locations API

The GET /api/v1/production-locations/ endpoint now returns contributor information, including contributors, number of contributors, and associated lists. The endpoint supports filtering by contributor ID or type and sorting by contributor count, using the same public visibility rules as existing API endpoints.

Platform Improvements & Bug Fixes

Merged Location Redirects

Accessing a merged production location URL no longer results in an infinite loading state. Merged-away locations now redirect to the canonical location, providing a seamless experience for users.

Custom Fields in Embedded Map Downloads

We resolved a bug where mixed-case list upload headers (such as program_1_Name) were leaving configured custom columns blank in embedded map CSV and XLSX downloads. These fields now populate correctly.

Attribution Updates with List Changes

We resolved a bug where transferring a list from a contributor account to another wasn't updating the extended fields related to that list. These fields now correctly reflect the new contributor, ensuring accurate attribution across facility profiles, search results, and data downloads without requiring manual corrections.

Matching Algorithm Fix

We fixed a matching bug that was sending exact name and address matches to manual review. These matches can now be automatically confirmed as intended.
