Senior Software Developer - Remote
About Open Supply Hub
Open Supply Hub (OS Hub) is a free and open data tool mapping retail supply chain facilities worldwide and allocating a unique ID to each. The tool is used by stakeholders across many sectors to eliminate confusion and facilitate collaboration, enable interoperability across systems and tackle the long-standing problem of facility identification. We are built on the principles of open: open data, open communications patterns, openness to ideas and new ways of working. We are a mission-driven organization and respect and value our stakeholders - they make OS Hub what it is: a tool enabling collaboration across retail sectors.
OS Hub is currently at an exciting period in its growth and development and is looking for a Senior Software Developer to contribute to the technical strategy and implementation of an open data, geospatial tool within the context of a rapidly expanding global nonprofit. Our ideal candidate is mission-driven with a desire to use their development skills to democratize global supply chain data and accelerate the progress towards addressing intractable issues that exist in supply chains - issues like modern day slavery and environmental degradation. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to contribute to the future growth and vision for the tool and must be prepared to roll up their sleeves with a wide variety of tasks. We are scaling quickly and will be hiring new team members throughout 2023.
Job Description
OS Hub’s Senior Software Developer will oversee and be accountable for the technical implementation of OS Hub’s web application, mapping tool, and underlying database. The Senior Software Developer will work closely with OS Hub’s leadership team and data and product teams to:
Provide leadership in developing a technical vision and strategy to scale our current platform from a database with currently over 150,000 facilities to a platform with potentially millions of facilities, with additional data cleaning, visualization, and integration features.
Balance the immediate need of scaling the platform with the strategic need to position the organization as core infrastructure within the supply chain transparency / ESG ecosystem.
The position is remote, but we ask that the employee be located between the US central time zone and European central time zone. In addition, the candidate must be residing in a country eligible via Boundless, our employer of record. You can find a comprehensive list at the bottom of the application. This is a full-time, salaried position. Benefits include medical and dental insurance and a generous parental leave and vacation policy.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status.
Responsibilities

Identify opportunities for cost savings and platform performance improvements.
Collaborate with other technical staff and product team on the development of system requirements and acceptance criteria; bring technical perspective of what is possible and tradeoffs that exist between functionality, extensibility, and budget.
Manage and mentor a small team of internal developers, as well as a 3rd party software development team.
Work with the internal and external engineering team members to operationalize code integration, testing, and deployment cycles.
The Ideal Candidate
- A mid-to-senior level software engineer with relevant experience including contributions to architecture design, development, and maintenance of new and current systems, ideally in production environments.
